What on earth is a shacket? Style tips for mature women.
Lately I've noticed the word "shacket" mentioned on fashion pages and retail sites. To be honest, I hadn't heard the word until recently so I did a little research as I often do. So here it is, it is described as a crossover between a shirt and a jacket. It is an item of clothing that can be worn as outerwear but can also be worn as a shirt. In this blog, I will share how I style sweaters, jackets and...yes, shackets, especially for mature women.
This first look, I am wearing a faux leather "shacket"...jacket...(purchased at Nordstrom). I have paired it with a faux leather skirt and a simple top. I've added a pair of glitter thigh high boots to spice things up a bit....yes, we still want spice over age 50!
Next I purchased this burgundy vegan leather, long sleeve button-up top from Lulus. The sleek and supple vegan leather shapes this classic top that has a collared neckline and long sleeves with button cuffs. The relaxed bodice has seam detailing and a full button placket down the center before ending at a raw, rounded hem. I wore my top with a skirt but you can wear it with a pair of trousers or even as a jacket over a dress.
...and on to my sweater purchases. I visited New York City recently (see my New York vlog here). The weather was much cooler than I expected and I did not pack the proper layering pieces. So I did what I had to do...yes, I went shopping. The sweater I purchased from H&M was just want I needed for those New York City streets! This long, fine-knit cardigan in soft fabric with wool content has no buttons, ribbing at cuffs, back of the neck, and hem. By the way, this is super affordable.
Finally, I purchased this relaxed, dolman sleeve simple but classic black sweater from Express. This is the perfect cozy piece for casual or well put-together styling. Pair with the matching cami and skirt, trousers or drape around your shoulders when wearing a dress. The truth is, just as you should have a black dress in your wardrobe...you should also have a simple black sweater.
