Over 40...How do you Motivate Yourself to Workout...Get Moving With Me

It is important to live your best life no matter your age but it is especially true as we mature. Aging gracefully is not about trying to look young but it is about embracing who you've become, acknowledging the changes that come with aging and striving not to give up but keep up at a pace that allows you to feel good about yourself. The overall goal is to age gracefully and live life with purpose from a mind, body and soul perspective.
I'm not denying, the process of aging can at times seem challenging. However, we must take the time to focus on our individual needs. We must make it a point to prioritize the things that need to be done to keep us physically and mentally fulfilled.
In my experience as a counselor, I have spoken to many women over the age of 40 who have a sense of hopelessness as it relates to the aging process. They almost give up and let life happen to them instead of remaining in control and having a plan to live life from a positive and satisfying standpoint. So, when someone refers to you as "old," don't embrace the term, instead refer to yourself as seasoned, refined, dignified.
There are some things that are in your control. These are things that will help you embrace the aging process, things which will allow you to feel better about yourself. Exercising over the age of 40 is one of those things. It is beneficial for many reasons. It is important to stay active. Exercise helps you maintain your weight. Exercising regularly lowers a person's risk of developing some diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. It is important to find some kind of physical activity that you enjoy, something you will stick to. It doesn’t have to be intense but try to do it at least 3 times per week. Not only is it important to work out, but pay attention to what you wear while working out. How you look and feel will ultimately give you the confidence needed to continue to work out.
A new study found that just 4,400 steps per day reduced the risk of premature mortality in women by 41%. Even a modest number of steps is associated with better health. You don't need to go walk for miles or hit the gym. The extra 2,000 steps (which is about one mile) can be accumulated by movement throughout the day. Once you get into the habit of not sitting around so much, you'll be surprised by how easy it is to get the extra steps.
