I'm over 50 and my 22 year old daughter and I constantly swap outfit ideas. Here are 6 things we agree on. I love fashion and so does she. Shopping with your mom may not be something most people describe as fun, but it's practically a ritual for my daughter and I.
Our personal style choices are alike in some ways and different in others. We also have mutual respect and appreciation for our individual style selections. She influences me and I'm told, I influence her. Overall, her style is youthful and trendy but she also likes the classics. My taste in fashion is more classic with sprinkles of trendy here and there. My daughter is a bit bougie when it comes to cost and her fashion selections. She skews toward more high end pieces while I am conscious of quality pieces but experience has taught me to find affordable gems, sometimes in the least expected places.
We searched the site of one of our favorite retailers and settled on 6 key items that are appealing to both of us, me, a baby boomer and her, a Gen-Xer. So, sit back and relax. I hope you will be inspired to shop our picks!
SWEATER
A great sweater is on both of our shopping lists. We love the styling options. This wool mix oversize design with the rounded neck and long sleeves is a great addition to our fall and winter wardrobe.
CHAIN LINK LOAFERS
Loafers are back and are the "hot" shoes for the fall/winter season. My daughter and I definitely purchased a pair or two to "up our shoe game" as she would say.
BLAZER
A great blazer will never go out of style. This houndstooth wool-blend blazer is oh so fashionable and a must have no matter the age.
COMFORTABLE JEANS
Even my daughter cannot tolerate squeezing into a pair of skinny jeans. She and I agree, a pair of comfortable and stylish jeans are a much better option.
FAUX LEATHER
The faux leather trend was popular last year and is back. Why not add a little fun to your wardrobe. Perhaps a pair of pants, a jacket, skirt, dress-you decide! This faux leather pleated midi skirt is simply gorgeous. Plus Size Available.
