Fashion for Women Over 40 Try On Haul: How to Style Dress Pants (Zara, New York and Co)
Updated: Oct 23, 2020
In this article, I am going to share what I recently purchased at New York & Company and Zara. I was in search of a few classic dress pants as well as affordable and coordinating tops.
There are many opportunities for "us" classy women over age 40 to dress somewhat casual and still be stylish. The workplace has changed. Many women are working from home. For some, Zoom meetings have become the norm. The reality is, we may not necessarily be going to work but just want a few outfits that will allow us to look great wherever we may go.
In looking for classic and affordable pieces, I immediately went to two of my favorite clothing stores, Zara and New York & Company. In a recent article, USA Today reported, women's fashion retailer New York & Company could permanently close all of its stores or a significant portion of them in bankruptcy (usatoday.com). I'm not sure what is going on but weekly they have been having some really amazing sales! I frequently receive their emails (too many I might add) but one email in particular advertised dress pants for $15.00. I have always appreciated the quality of their merchandise so I ordered 3 pairs in the colors grey, brown and tan.
So now for affordable tops, I looked to another one of my favorite stores, Zara. I love the affordability as well as the quality of their clothes. In looking at tops, I decided to purchase a few sleeveless turtlenecks. These basic tops come in great colors such as white, brown and black.
I am in love with the "it" color of the season...various shades of brown including tan. A simple pair of dress pants, a basic turtleneck top and some stylish shoes make the perfect pairing for work, a zoom call or whenever you want to be stylish and classy!

Classy Ladies, in my search to bring you amazing finds, I found a really nice turtleneck that is very similar to the one I purchased at Zara. The fabric is stretchy and breathable and ultra soft. This top is flattering for most body types. The mock turtleneck is sleeveless and slim fit but the shirt is not tight and holds its shape well. It is a good to layer under shirts with sweaters, cardigans, vests, jackets and blazers or wear alone. It is a must have shirt to have in your wardrobe (for more details, click on the shirt).
