Dresses...Dresses...Dresses and I want all of them! Style Tips for Women Over 50.
I confess, I truly enjoy wearing dresses. When most prefer wearing pants, I'm the one in the crowd wearing a dress...and I ask myself, "why not?" With so many patterns, fabrics and styles, there are always many delightful options to choose from.
Don't get me wrong. As a Fashion enthusiast, I value all aspects of fashion. I appreciate the variety, the creativity of dressing--all of it--including pants, skirts, jumpsuits, shorts, you name it. However, when I shop, I am often drawn to the flow of the dress, the fit of the dress, the color...the style...I just love dresses. Besides, they are so much more time efficient. You only have ONE thing to select from...you don''t have to say, “what goes with this?” or “do I have a clean blouse to go with my skirt?” Finally, dresses come in many categories from casual to work...to going out, there is a dress for every occasion. Here are a few affordable...yes affordable favs to add to your wardrobe.
When I saw this first dress, I was instantly drawn to the delightful fabric. I absolutely adore this one shoulder floral dress...AND the side detail is eye catching and oh so classy.
The color, lilac has been on the pulse of many fashion designers this year. I am really excited about this v-neck tie front dress. Not only is the color amazingly beautiful but I like the way it drapes around the waist and flows below the belt.
...and speaking of flowy dresses. How about this beautiful asymmetrical, belted bardot dress...the off the shoulder design is so very elegant. I am also loving the hemline.
Although I prefer midi length dresses, from time to time I wear conservatively designed above the knee styles that are suitable for classy mature women. This paisley print bishop sleeve belted dress is oh so nice! However, if it is too short, perhaps style it like a tunic and wear with a pair of coordinating trousers?
This next dress is sure to make a statement. The off the shoulder, ruffle trim, floral dress is oh so nice. I especially like the ruffles around the arms and hemline.
I have featured shirt dresses in some of my recent blogs...why...because I really like them. They remind me of the sophisticated and pulled together looks women wore in the 1950's. This print belted shirt dress is sure to make you stand out.
The final look is this blue viscose, wrap dress...love it!
In conclusion, I love statement dresses that are classy, that tell stories, whether it’s through the pattern, the color palette, or how it fits. As a mature woman over 50, I generally know what types of patterns and palettes I like. When I see a dress that I like...I get excited and feel like it’s meant to be...for me, of course! And what about you? Are you a dress wearer? Why or why not? Would love to hear your thoughts!
